The Role and Opportunity

CMHA Toronto is looking for a skilled Business Intelligence Analyst who will support the organization to develop its business intelligence capability. CMHA Toronto recently migrated to a new client management system and this role will be focussed on identifying and implementing the reporting and analytics requirements for the organization. This will include consulting across teams to determine business requirements, developing an implementation plan, and executing and refining it as the work unfolds. The role will also be responsible for monitoring data quality, generating funder reports, and responding to ad hoc decision support requests. Finally, the BI Analyst will be responsible for the technical administration of the client management system.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Collect business requirements from programs and senior leadership and translate them into user-friendly reports and dashboards
  • Prioritize implementation based on program needs and complexity, develop workplan, and communicate progress to stakeholders
  • Design report and dashboard prototypes and mock-ups
  • Develop reports and dashboards within the client management system platform (e.g. Looker), using third-party BI software (e.g. Power BI), and in funder reporting templates (e.g. Word and Excel) as appropriate
  • Monitor data quality and provide timely quality improvement interventions
  • Generate funder reports on a recurring basis
  • Respond to ad hoc decision support requests
  • Create user and technical documentation
  • Provide training to staff

Client Management System Administration:

  • Work with the vendor to remediate issues and implement new features
  • Recommend and implement additional customizations to the client management system


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in data analysis or related field
  • Familiarity with the community mental health context and client management systems or electronic medical record software. Past experience with TELUS CHR is an asset.
  • Skilled in exploratory analysis and mapping data and workflows.
  • Solid relationship management skills including the ability to translate complex projects into component parts, articulate clear solutions, and the flexibility to support projects where needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 platform
  • Some knowledge of SQL, Python, or R
  • Some past experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker, Power BI)
  • Competent documentation skills including code commenting and writing user guides/training materials.
  • Understanding of privacy legislation, especially PHIPA, and best practices for securing data
